Supporting people

with brain injury since 1984

We’re fully aware of the important role carers and families can play in the ongoing recovery of their loved one. It’s a role that nobody would wish for, and it can be an extremely challenging one, both mentally and physically.

Carers and families play an important part in the ongoing recovery of their loved one. It can be an extremely challenging one, both mentally and physically, but can also be immensely rewarding.

Headway Bedford is here for you too, offering useful advice and support for families and carers.

Importantly, there’s the respite you’ll receive while your loved one is at Headway Bedford – this gives you time to do other things, including take time out for yourself. Carers and families’ can feel guilty about this, but it’s important to remember that everyone needs a break from time to time. You can take comfort from the fact that your family member is spending time in a safe, supportive, positive and productive environment at Headway Bedford. More about what’s on offer

We also run a monthly Carers’ Support Group at Headway Bedford (brain injury specific) – it’s held on the 1st Friday of every month, from 10.30am-12.30pm. All carers and family members are welcome to join us – it’s a great opportunity to meet and chat with other people who are going through the same experiences as you, and get access to lots of useful help and advice too Find out more
