About Headway Bedford
Originally founded in 1984 as a brain injury support group, Headway Bedford set up its first service centre and base in 1990. We provide an holistic, client-centred approach to the consequences of brain injury through cognitive, physical, social and emotional re-learning and rehabilitation services. For referrers
Today, we have our own dedicated premises at the Bedford Health Village, conveniently located near Bedford town centre. Why not have a look around?
Most of our client referrals come from the NHS, GPs and other Social Services professionals, but we also welcome direct approaches from anyone affected by brain injury throughout the Bedfordshire area.
Our Mission Statement
To improve the lives of people who acquired a brain injury by providing excellent services which promote independence and well being through enabling our clients to establish and achieve their personal aims and objectives.
Our Aims
To create an active rehabilitation environment to enable people with brain injury to achieve optimum functional independence
To create local awareness and understanding of the specific needs of people with brain injury and to establish structures within the community to cater for such needs
To create a supportive social network, providing information and advice to people with brain injury, their families and carers through all stages of care
Headway Bedford has been an independently registered charity (No. 1075469) since 1993, but is also an affiliated member of Headway – The Brain Injury Association (No. 1025852), a nationwide charity that works to provide national and local help and support to people affected by brain injury. At Headway Bedford, we strive to provide a consistently high level of service to all our clients. We work to the Headway Minimum Service Standards set by Headway – The Brain Injury Association for all affiliated groups that provide a service to brain injury clients.
